Internet gambling has become a popular way to spend leisure time. A study by the University of Connecticut showed that 8.1% of patients seeking reduced-cost medical services reported that they had gambled online. However, the study also revealed that there is little support in the state for legalizing the activity. While gambling is legal in 48 states, there is a lack of interest in Hawaii. The large Mormon population in the state has led to regulations that are based on personal beliefs and values.
